Velocity of the 12C(α, γ)16O reaction during thermonuclear helium burning in stars
Creators
Description
The problem of the 12C(α, γ)16O reaction rate determination during helium thermonuclear burning in stars is discussed. Different methods of the reaction rate determination are considered. Different parametrization methods result in the direct predictions of one and the same value - cross section at the energy E=0.3 MeV. The value of total S-factor, corresponding to capture cross section σα,γ:Sα,γ (0.3 MeV)=(0.1-0.2) MeV x barn, is presented. In correspondence with data on cosmic occurrence of chemical elements the value obtained signifies that as a result of helium burning 12C and 16O are formed in approximately equal amounts
