After an historical outline, the methodological fundamentals of nuclear medicine in cardiological practice are discussed. Other subjects dealt with are: 201Tl myocardial scintiscanning; myocardial perfusion measurement after intracoronary injection; studies of the myocardial metabolism using 123I-labelled fatty acids; scintiscanning after myocardial infarction; functional scintiscanning of the ventricles; imaging of the great vessels; shunt imaging; transit time measurements; emission tomography. The final chapter states indications for nuclear examinations of the heart. (MG)

Abstract (German)

In dem vorliegenden Buch werden nach einem kurzen historischen Ueberblick die methodischen Grundlagen der nuklearmedizinischen Verfahren in der Kardiologie erlaeutert. Danach werden die 201Tl-Myokardszintigraphie, die Bestimmung der Myokarddurchblutung nach intrakoronarer Injektion, die Untersuchung des Myokardstoffwechsels mit 123J-markierten Fettsaeuren, die Infarktszintigraphie, die Funktionsszintigraphie der Ventrikel, die Darstellung grosser Blutraeume, Shuntbestimmungen, Transitzeitmessungen sowie die Emissionstomographie besprochen. Ein weiteres Kapitel befasst sich mit den Indikationen fuer die nuklearmedizinische Untersuchung des Herzens. (MG)
