Bremsstrahlung X-radiation from converters of various configuration

Description
Problem on generation of powerful X radiation fluxes using high-current electron beams is studied. Results of calculating X radiation from tantalum and molybdenum converters of various configurations: standard shooting type, point anode and modified multifoil-type in external longitudinal magnetic field, are described. The system, considered in azimuthal-symmetrical geometry, includes the drift cylindrical area, the converter located therein and external longitudinal magnetic field. Monodirected monochromatic electron beam falls down along the symmetry axis on the converter surface. Electron transfer in interfoil gaps corresponds to solution of relativistic equation of motion by the Runge-Kutt method. The conclusion is made that the multifoil converter in longitudinal magnetic field has an advantage before the standard converter and point anode in induced X radiation energy, spectrum average energy and created average surface dose due to more efficient release of low-energy quanta, including X radiation photons
