Ion sources of high luminosity for mass spectrometers

Description
With the aim of obtaining an ion collection high coefficient, small energy and angular spread, ion sources high work stability mass-spectrometric ion sources with axial and cartesian sysmmetry have been modeled and experimentally studied. The ion sources with electronic impact and with surface ionization have been investigated. It is shown that with ion gun length increase and potential conservation on its electrodes, as well as with the increase of truncated cone height of ionization chamber the decrease of angular divergence and ion energetic spread has been observed. The ion collection coefficient in the investigated ion sources can reach 50-60%. The ion sourse sensitivity for the quadrupole and static mass spectrometers equals 2.4x10-3A/mm Hg and 4x10-5 A/mm Hg, respectively
