Description

Possibility of formation of binary oxides in UO2-MoO2-MoO3 system by modifying β-UMo2O8 structure was studied on the basis of crystal chemical concepts and the data of X-ray phase analysis. Existence of four individual compounds α- and β-U3MoO64, UMo5O16 and UMo10O32 was revealed. Three of them (except for α-U3Mo20O64) were prepared in the form of single-phase compounds. It was established that binary oxide of U and Mo, attached earlier with γ-U3Mo20O64 formula, corresponded to UMo5O16 composition. It was proved, that only those structures were realized, where in blocks, located between Mo2O7 octahedron layers, the number of positions, occupied by U atoms and vacancies, was equal to the number of positions, occupied by Mo atoms
