Measurement of proton-antiproton elastic scattering, total cross-section and diffractive dissociation at the CERN SPS collider

Recent results from experiment UA4 at the CERN SPS Collider are presented. New precision measurements of the elastic differential cross-section at √s = 546 GeV in the four momentum transfer range 0.03 < -t < 0.3 GeV2 are discussed. The t distribution in the very forward region can be fitted by an exponential curve with slope parameter b = 15.3 +- 0.2 GeV-2. Combining the elastic and the simultaneously measured inelastic rate a new value for the total cross-section of 62.4 +- 0.7 +- 2 mb is obtained. Detailed features of the production of the diffractive component are also reported
