Effect of a strong external magnetic field on plasma wake waves

Description

Effect of strong external constant longitudinal magnetic field B0 on wake waves in cold neutral plasma with immobile ions is considered in linear approximation. Correlation of plasma with B0 = 0 and B0 ≠ 0 was conducted for the cases of planar leading electron bunch with homogeneous charge distribution and cylindrical bunch with heterogeneous distributions. It was concluded, that qualitatively new peculiarities of fields, generated by the bunch, occurred at B0 ≠ 0. The character of field dependence on bunch Lorentz factor, changes in particular: at B0 ≠ 0 it becomes weaker for Coulomb part and becomes stronger for the wake part of the field. 12 refs., 1 tab
