Application of forming-line pulse-compression in ultra-wide-spectrum technology

  • 1. Science and Technology on High Power Microwave Laboratory, Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology, Xi'an (China)

Description

The principle of charging low impedance forming line with ultra-wide-spectrum pulser based on Blumlein line to compress pulse is analysed in this paper. The voltage of the output pulse, the gain of the power and the energy efficiency have been figured out. A circuit model has been created with analyzing software, the simulation has verified the analysis. An experiment upon CKP-1000 has been made with complete pulse compression system. The results show that when the input pulse width is 4.5 ns, the output pulse can be compressed to be 1 ns in half-width and the front edge is only 940 ps. The power gain is up to 2.2. (authors)
