The method of the finite elements in quantum mechanics - solution of the Hartree-Fock-Slater equations
Description
In this thesis the possibility is demonstrated to solve the Hartree-Fock-Slater equations by means of the method of the finite elements. In the first chapter the physical-mathematical foundations of the thesis are presented. The approximations which lead to the Hartree-Fock-Slater equations are sketched. In chapter II the numerical solution of the Hartree-Fock-Slater equations is described. For this the method of the finite elements is presented. The special problems which result in the application of the method of the finite elements are shown and their solution is discussed. In chapter III the results of test calculations are presented. In comparison with the results of other numerical methods the power of the presented method is studied. In chapter IV further possibilities and problems of the method of the finite elements are discussed. (orig./HSI)

In dieser Arbeit wird die Moeglichkeit aufgezeigt die Hartree-Fock-Slater Gleichungen mittels der Methode der finiten Elemente zu loesen. Im ersten Kapitel werden die physikalisch, methematischen Grundlagen der Arbeit dargestellt. Die Naeherungen die zu den Hartree-Fock-Slater Gleichungen fuehren werden skizziert. Im Kapitel II wird die numerische Loesung der Hartree-Fock-Slater Gleichungen beschrieben. Dazu wird die Methode der finiten Elemente vorgestellt. Die speziellen Probleme, die sich bei der Anwendung der Methode der finiten Elemente ergeben, werden aufgezeigt und deren Loesung diskutiert. Im Kapitel III werden die Ergebnisse von Testrechnungen vorgestellt. Im Vergleich mit den Ergebnissen anderer numerischer Methoden wird die Leistungsfaehigkeit der vorgestellten Methoden wird die Leistungsfaehigkeit der vorgestellten Methode untersucht. Im Kapitel IV werden weitere Moeglichkeiten und Probleme der Methode der finiten Elemente besprochen. (orig./HSI)Additional details
