Description
The projectile ionization process in heavy ion-atom collisions were studied. The electron ejection from He+ projectile into backward observation angles was measured using He, Ne, and Ar target atoms. The theoretical electron loss cross sections were calculated in the frame of the first Born approximation and the electron impact approximation. The single differential cross sections were measured by a distorted field cylindrical mirror electron spectrometer and were compared to the theoretical results. (D.G.) 9 refs
