Description

The principle is described of a thermonuclear hybrid reactor for obtaining 239Pu from 238U. The question is discussed of economical applying thermonuclear hybrid reactors for the production of fuel for light water reactors only. The Soviet project is described of a tokamak of a planned output of 2400 MWe and plutonium production of 4,000 kg/y. (J.B.)
