A multi-function beam monitor for synchrotron radiation beamline

  • 1. Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing (China). Inst. of High Energy Physics, Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility

Description

As an important part of the synchrotron radiation facility, the beam monitor is used to monitor the beam's position, intensity and distribution in the SR beamline's diagnostic, commissioning and real time monitoring. A new type of beam monitor based on Si-PIN photodiode has been developed for the newly constructed 1W1B-XAFS beamline. This beam monitor is combined with fixed slit and Be window. Being simple, reliable and low cost, the new beam monitor is mainly used for beamline alignment and monitoring beam intensity. The principle and construction are discussed, and the operation modes and testing results are described. (authors)
