Technological significance of temperature of precipitation of ammonium diuranate

Description
Uranium was precipitated from uranyl nitrate pure solution as ammonium diuranate(ADU) at different temperatures and the powders were characterized for different parameters such as moisture content in the cake, bulk and tap density, nitrate content, ammonia to uranium mole ratio. The course of precipitation was monitored and the quantity of precipitant consumed in achieving the final pH of 8.0 at these differing temperatures was determined and hence the variation in the consumption was quantified. The settling characteristics of ADU at these temperatures were also studied. (author)
