Main physical and engineering problems of constructing a tokamak with strong magnetic field and adiabatic plasma compression

Description

The project of the tokamak device with a strong magnetic field and adiabatic plasma compression intended for obtaining and investigating plasma with parameters close to the conditions of plasma firing is described. Structural specific features and main parameters of the electromagnetic system, power supplies and vacuum chamber are considered. In the described device it is supposed to use a combined plasma compression realized in two stages: at first, fast increase of toroidal magnetic field causes adiabatic plasma compression over the small radius then by means of the corresponding poloidal field change simultaneous plasma compression over the pinch large and small radii takes place. The conclusion is drawn on the feasibility of the suggested design
