Description
The engineering of scintigraphy equipment detection system using PSPMT has been conducted. A scintigraphy equipment is used for imaging small organs. The equipment is a mini gamma camera. The function of the equipment to provide images of metabolism process in a body organ. The result of the equipment can be used to diagnose an illness. The function of scintigraphy equipment detection system is detecting incoming radiation from body organs. The incoming radiations are converted to photons by a scintillation crystal in the scintigraphy equipment detection system. Then, photons are multiplied by Photo Multiplier Tube (PMT) and are converted to be electrical signals. It needs a lot of PMT to detect a location of incoming radiation from a body organ. Using PSPMT (Position Sensitive PMT) which sensitive to position of incoming radiation, it needs only one PSPMT. From this activity, it can be concluded that PSPMT can be used for scintigraphy equipment detection system. Using PSPMT, the dimension of scintigraphy equipment detection system can be reduced. Although the scintigraphy equipment detection system is only suitable for imaging small organs. (author)
