Technically possible share of solar energy as an energy carrier in the Federal Country of Lower Austria
Description
On behalf of the Academy for Environment and Energy/Laxenburg there has been examined, with the example of the Federal Country of Lower Austria, which technical possibilities are existing today, to market the solar energy potential in the energy supply in Lower Austria. According to the present state of the art thermal solar systems and heat pumps as well as photovoltaic systems can be considered as feasible for the use of solar energy in Lower Austria, considering the meteorological conditions. Alltogether there will be a technically marketable potential of solar energy in Lower Austria (solar heat, ambient heat and solar electricity) of about 64000 TJ/year, corresponding to 42.5% of the energy demand of 1990. The energy demand for the construction of the aimed energy system will be, with its 254000 TJ, about 1.7 times higher than the energy demand in Lower Austria in 1990 and the needed capital is estimated to be about 660000 million AS.
