Application of EGS4 code to whole-body counting

  • 1. Japan Atomic Energy Research Inst., Tokai, Ibaraki (Japan). Tokai Research Establishment

Description

The authors have applied the EGS4 (Electron Gamma Shower Version 4) code to the evaluation of the responses of a whole-body counter using mathematical models and correction factors for individuals in order to improve accuracy on the assessment of body burdens. It was found that the calibration of the whole-body counter by the EGS4 code could replace the actual calibration and the calculated correction factors shall be practical and useful for the whole-body counting.
