Reactions of (nπ*) and (ππ*) states of triplet acetophenone with hydroperoxide molecules
Description
The photochemical interaction of triplet acetophenone (TRO) with α-phenyl ethyl hydroperoxide (HROOH) was studied in CCl4 and CH3CN. In CCl4 only the (nπ)* state of TRO is active extracting hydrogen from HROOH molecules. In CH3CN both hydrogen extraction and homolysis of HROOH take place, that is both (nπ)* and (ππ)* states of triplet RO play active role. (author) 4 refs
