Process to manufacture nuclear fuel pellets
Description
The reduction of the superstoichiometric compacts of UO2/PuO2 powder mixtures takes place at about 10000C and the addition of the gas mixture N2/H2 or N2/CO takes place in a muffle furnace. The subsequent sintering is performed in a sinter furnace decoupled from the muffle furnace at temperatures between 1000 and 17600C. The gas mixture H2/Ar is added here. The length and pusher rate of the sinter furnace can be optimally selected due to the decoupling of both furnaces. (DG)

Die Reduktion der ueberstoechiometrischen Presskoerper aus UO2/PuO2-Pulvergemischen erfolgt bei etwa 10000C und Zufuhr des Gasgemisches N2/H2 oder N2/CO in einem Muffelofen. Das anschliessend durchzufuehrende Sintern erfolgt in einem vom Muffelofen entkoppelten Sinterofen bei Temperaturen zwischen 1000 und 17600C. Hierbei wird das Gasgemisch H2/Ar zugefuehrt. Durch die Entkopplung beider Oefen kann die Laenge und die Durchstossgeschwindigkeit des Sinterofen optimal ausgewaehlt werden. (DG)Files
