Improved alpha-background cancellation circuit for tritium gas monitor
Description
A new cancellation circuit which eliminates component due to α-particles from Rn in the ionization current of a tritium gas monitor has been designed and constructed. In order to eliminate the α-particle component, a gated integrator circuit that form signals having the same pulse shape as initial α-particle signals was newly adopted in the cancellation circuit. The transfer function of the cancellation circuit was calculated for the α-particle signal by means of the Laplace transformation. The test for the system showed that the cancellation circuit eliminated successfully the component of α-particle signals. By use of the gated integrator, the cancellation circuit functioned very well even when the counting rate of α-particle signals is as high as 1 cps in the input. This circuit is essential to measure the tritium-gas concentration below the maximum permissible concentration. (author)

前報では、打消し回路を製作し、空気中のRnからのα線の影響を電子回路を使って除去できることを確かめた。また、大容量の電離箱で生じる連続したα粒子による信号を取り除き、排気許容濃度以下のトリチウム測定の可能性を示した。しかし、以下の問題点が残った。(1)打消し回路の構成や動作がやや複雑であった。(2)パルスの整形回路の時定数が大きいためα粒子によるパルス信号の計数率が高い場合に打消し残しがあった。(3)α粒子によるパルス信号の立上がりを早くする目的で電離箱の印加電圧を1,000 Vと高くしていた。そのため湿度が高い場合に、高電界側電極表面に吸着した水分吸着層から、高電界による荷電粒子放出に起因する暗電流が増えるおそれがあった。今回これらの点を考慮した新しい打消し回路を考案しテストしたので、その結果を報告する。(日本)Additional details
