Modified notched filter technique for determining hydrogen in metals

  • 1. Univ. of Missouri, Columbia (USA)
  • 2. Syracuse Univ., NY (USA)

Description

The presence of hydrogen in steel, zirconium, and other metals if of concern in materials science. Nuclear techniques have been studied to determine this hydrogen content nondestructively using a notched filter technique or using neutron scattering of neutron beams. This paper outlines preliminary work to combine the principals of these two techniques to provide greater sensitivity for determining hydrogen content in metals
