Pulsed electron irradiation impact on aluminum and copper creep

  • 1. Inst. Yaernoj Fiziki NYaTs RK, Almaty (Kazakhstan)

Description

We research the annealed samples of polycrystal copper (Cu 99.95%) and aluminium (Al 99.99%) in the double blade form with working part size 20·4·0,5 mm, which were exposed to pulsed irradiation by electrons with power 400-500 KeV (power density 5·108 W/cm2). After irradiation they were tested on strain with limit constant loading rate, for the fluidity and strength determination. Together with it, the series of copper samples were tested creep under constant power levels on the remote facilities under the power 2.0-2.6 σ02 (σ02- fluidity limit). Tests showed that the electron aluminum and copper irradiation led to their considerable hardening. This is indicated by growth of fluidity level. During creep tests under uniaxial tension which indicated that together with hardening of materials that were subjected to pulsed electron irradiation we observed the perceptible creep rate reduction on the fixed stage
