Comparative study of radiation-induced thin-layer polymerization of acrylic and methacrylic esters
- 1. Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Fiziko-Khimicheskij Inst., Moscow (USSR)
Description
Comparative study of polymerization of certain acrylic esters (AE) and their methacrylic analogues in a thin (∼ 200 μm) layer under the effect of accelerated electrons (E 600 keV, J = 1 mA) has been carried out. A sharp decrease in polymerization rate was always observed when passing from AE to ME. It is shown that in the process of AE and ME polymerization anionic mechanism makes a considerable contribution to the overall process. The mechanism causes the differences in the process course and polymer properties from AE to ME
