Determination of the space-time extension of centrally produced hadronic matter using the intensity interferometer technique in pp interactions at 28.5 GeV/c
- 1. Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana 47907
Description
We have measured in the central region, the ratio of negative pion pairs to that of negative-positive pion pairs as a function of the Kopylov variables. A correlation was observed. From the shape of the correlation function we determined the radius γ and life-time tau of the centrally produced hadronic matter parallel and perpendicular to the collision axis to be r/longitudinal/ = 0.73/sup+0.10/sub0.11/ fm, r/transverse/ = 1.65/sup+3.56/sub0.99 fm, and tau/longitudinal/ = (1.97/sup+0.57/sub-0.56 x 10-24 sec
