US regulatory and legislative influence on nuclear power: a guardedly optimistic perspective
Description
Some specific areas of US regulatory and legislative policy addressed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Congress are presented which deal with hitherto intractable issues in the nuclear power industry. These refer to a safety goals policy statement, a severe accident policy statement, backfitting guidance, waste disposal, regulatory reform legislation, the Price-Anderson Act, the NRC Authorization Bill and Amendments to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Policy Act.
