Induced activity in a high-energy linear accelerator
Description
Induced activity due to photonuclear reactions in medical accelerators becomes important when the acceleration potential exceeds 10 MV, and will contribute to the exposure of the staff operating the accelerator. The highest activity is expected in that part of the accelerator which is exposed to the highest photon fluence rate, i.e. the target, target holder and flattening filter, but the activity induced in the accessories with which the staff come in direct contact is also important.
