Thermonuclear pulsors

  • 1. PLADEMA (Argentina). Centro Coordinador del Programa Intersinstitucional de Plasmas Densos

Description

Plasma neutron pulsors are small thermonuclear devices based in the compression of plasmas during high electrical discharges in gases, during which substantial amounts of different types of radiation are produced, namely X-rays, electrons, ions and, using deuterium, neutrons from nuclear reactions. Currently, PF pulsors are among the cheapest available neutron generators, with unique features extremely short pulses (hundreds of nano secs) that suit them for a number of interesting applications: defectoscopy, medical imaging, tomography, substance detection, among others.
