Considerations concerning the physics of nuclear matter under extreme conditions and an accelerator for relativistic heavy ions
Description
The future problems of heavy-ion physics in the 10 GeV/U range are dealt with: the dynamics of relativistic nuclear collisions, phase transitions, nuclear matter, quantum electrodynamics of extremely strong fields, and astrophysical aspects. In the second part, the project of a heavy-ion accelerator in the 10 GeV/U range to be coupled to the present GSI UNILAC accelerator is discussed. (WL)

Behandelt werden die zukuenftigen Probleme in der Schwerionenphysik im Bereich von 10 GeV/U: Dynamik relativistischer Kernstoesse, Phasenuebergaenge, Kernmaterie, Quantenelektrodynamik extrem starker Felder und astrophysikalische Aspekte. Im zweiten Teil werden Ueberlegungen zu einem Beschleuniger fuer schwere Ionen im Bereich von 10 GeV/U dargelegt, der an den vorhandenen UNILAC-Beschleuniger der GSI angekoppelt werden soll. (WL)
