Elementary modes of excitation in the nucleus

Creators

Description

The lecture read on the occasion of the Nobel Prize awarding ceremony is published. The development is briefly surveyed of the theoretical description of excited states of atomic nuclei. The successful application is shown of collective nuclear models, especially in the description of the low-lying collective excited states, and the introduction is mentioned of the most important bonds between collective and single-particle motions.
