Acoustic wave absorption in YAlO3 and Y0.9Lu0.1AlO3 crystals

Description
It is shown, that abrupt dependence of absorption coefficient (AC) of longitudinal acoustic waves (AW) on temperature under low temperatures in YAlO3 results from velocity dispersion of acoustic phonons. Absorption peculiarities for longitudinal and shear AW in Y0.9Lu0.1AlO3 solid solution are explained. Occurence of phonon intensive quasi-elastic scattering in these crystals results in essential variation of value and character of AW absorption as compared to pure crystal (matrix). Velocities of longitudinal and shear AW are measured in these crystals
