Description
The 'Wirtschaftswoche' article, the first in a series of three, reports on the failure of the great expectations in nuclear power under the headings 'End of an Illusion' and 'The Nuclear Flop'. The nuclear business has turned out to be laborious and costly rather than profitable. In France, excess capacities are the major problem; in the USA, utilities are near bankruptcy. German nuclear power plant exports are faced with hard competition and small success. (HSCH)

Der erste Teil der dreiteiligen Serie ueber Atomstrom in der Wirtschaftswoche berichtet unter den Schlagworten 'Ende einer Illusion', 'Im Kern getroffen', dass sich die einst hoffnungsvollen Erwartungen der Atomindustrie bis heute nicht erfuellt haben. Das Geschaeft mit der Kernenergie bringt mehr Lasten als Nutzen. In Frankreich treiben Ueberkapazitaeten die Kosten, in USA sind die Stromversorger am Rande der Zahlungsunfaehigkeit. Der deutsche Export von Kernkraftwerken basiert auf muehsamer Akquisition mit bescheidenen Erfolgen. (HSCH)Additional details
