Drell-Yan and Electroweak Measurements at the Tevatron
Description
New electroweak physics analyses at the Tevatron are taking advantage of the higher energy, luminosity, and upgraded detectors of Run II to produce world class results. The CDF and DO experiments have successfully established the program at √(s)= 1.96 TeV with cross-section measurements of the leptonic decays for both W's and Z's, decaying to electrons, muons, and taus. Asymmetry measurements and diboson production are yielding precise information about the parton distribution functions of the proton and the Standard Model couplings. New techniques are developing for analyses including the indirect W width. Some electroweak processes are being observed for the first time, and others like the W mass will be measured better than ever before. Looking ahead to the LHC, precision measurements from the Tevatron will be important benchmarks, inputs, backgrounds, and even competitors
