Fabrication of high-Tc LaBa2Cu3Oy thin films with vapor-liquid-solid growth mode

Description

We studied the fabrication of high-Tc LaBa2Cu3Oy (La123) superconducting thin films by a pulsed laser deposition using a vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) growth mode. To investigate an effectiveness of the VLS growth on the Tc improvement, a La123 film fabricated by the VLS growth was compared with that by a conventional vapor growth. The Tc of the film grown by the VLS was superior to that of the film fabricated by the conventional vapor growth. We could achieve the Tc of 83.5 K grown on the NdGaO3(1 1 0) and LaAlO3)0.3(SrAl0.5Ta0.5O3)0.7(1 0 0). From the cross-sectional transmission electron microscope image, we found that c-planes of the VLS grown film were not smooth. The maximum Tc in this work reached 85.8 K in the film obtained by the VLS growth using a Sm123 seed layer
