Turbulence in industry. Synthesis report

  • 1. Societe Neyrpic, 38 - Grenoble (France)

Description

Turbulence is present almost everywhere in industrial processes which most of the time present, as regards large dimensions, slightly viscous fluid flows. In many cases, turbulence helps the Engineer to make up for the weakness of the molecular distribution factors causing convective unsteady mixings which increase transfers. On the other hand, it can interfere with some separation processes, can complicate the development of vibrations induced by the flow and can introduce unusual statistical notions whenever instantaneous values or particle trajectories are involved. By means of precise examples, the author attemps to demonstrate the various aspects assumed by this intrusion of turbulence in industry, the way the problems are dealth with, the shortcomings experienced by the Engineer as regards his conceptional approach and the need to gain a better understanding of a so current phenomenon, all the intricacy of which we are far to control
