Description

The liquid-liquid extraction of thorium(IV), uranium(VI) and trivalent lanthanides such as neodymium(III), europium(III) and lutetium(III) from nitrate solutions was studied using 4-sebacoylbis(1-phenyl-3-methyl-5- pyrazolone) (H2SP) and 4-dodecandioylbis(1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone) (H2DDP) in chloroform as extractants. Thorium(IV), uranium(VI) and lutetium(III) complexes of H2SP were synthesised and characterised by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectral data to arrive at the nature of the complexes. (author)
