Ecological genetic monitoring of small vertebrates

  • 1. Inst. genetyki i tsytalogii, Natsyyanal'naya akadehmiya navuk Belarusi, Minsk (Belarus)

Description

It was studied the level of cytogenetic damages in small vertebrates (Rana temporaria, Rana arvalis Nills; Cletrionomus glareolus, Shreber) in dependence of the degree of radionuclide contamination of area and radionuclide accumulation by organism. It was established that the level of cytogenetic damages in the marrow cell of frogs from contaminated areas was considerable higher than in the control animals. It was absent the straight dependence between radionuclide contamination of territory and the level of the cytogenetic damages. Accumulation of strontium 90 in animal marrow cells was perhaps to be essential factor in the rise of chromosome aberration level and its remote consequences
