Statistical investigation of pressure effect upon the phase transition nematic -smectic A

The statistical theory of the effect of pressure upon the phase transition nematic liquid crystal-smectic liquid crystal A is worked up. it is shown that at increasing pressure the phase transition may change from 1 to 2 order. The developed model permits one to describe the <> phase transition from smectic A phase to nematic. 10 refs
