DNA repair changes in DNA polymerase and DNA ligase activity in the regenerating liver of γ-irradiated rats
- 1. AN SSSR, Pushchino-na-Oke. Inst. Biologicheskoj Fiziki
Description
The regenerating rat liver of γ-irradiated rats was shown to exhibit, within three hours after exposure, an incomplete repair of single-strand breaks in DNA. No repair of DNA breaks was registered 5-10 hours following irradiation; DNA polymerase and DNA ligase activities were found to decrease. The enzyme changes in the regenerating liver correlate with the effectiveness of DNA repair and are not connected with the appearance of the inhibiting factor
