Description

A review of the results of complementary use of vibrational spectroscopy (infrared and Raman) and poweder X-ray diffraction in the process of identification and detection of some carbonate, sulfide, oxide and silicate minerals orginating from the Republic of Macedonia is presented. Studied are the following minerals: calcite, CaCO3; argonite, CaCO3; siderite, FeCO3; magnesite, MgCO3; dolomite, CaMg(CO3)2; kutnahorite, CaMn(CO3)2; galena, PbS; sphalerite/wurtzite, (Zn, Fe)S; hematite, Fe2O3; magnetite, Fe3O4; limonite, FeOOH; goethite, α-FeOOH; corundum, Al2O3; rutile, TiO2; chromite, FeCr2O4; almandine, Fe3Al2(SiO4)3; spessartine, Mn3Al2(SiO4)3; zircon, ZrSiO4; titanite, CaTiSiO5; olovine, (Mg,Fe)2SiO4; forsterite, Mg2SiO4; staurolite, Fe2Al9O6(SiO4)4(OH)2; kyanite, Al2SiO5.
