Regulatory aspects of radioactive waste management in Sweden and its implementation
Description
The Swedish nuclear power utilities are building a number of facilities for intermediate and final storage of radioactive waste and spent fuel. A particular company, the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company, has been created for the purpose by the utilities. The regulatory bodies in Sweden are heavily engaged in the authorisation of these facilities, as well as for making regulations for their operation. Considerable progress has been achieved but large amounts of work still remain especially regarding methods for safety evaluations. (author)
