Nord Pool, The Nordic Power Exchange, has strengthened its hold on the electricity market. At the time of writing, there are seven exchange markets for electric power in Europe and more are likely to appear. The article discusses the emergence of such exchange markets and the competition between them when there is free trade of electricity across national boundaries
