Electromagnetic shower detector on the basis of plastic streamer tubes

Description
The results are presented of the investigation of specifications of an electromagnetic shower detector in dependence on its position in an electron calorimeter. The detector consists of one layer of plastic streamer tubes. The measurements were fulfilled with the 21.6 GeV/c electron beam. A streamer tube was filled by the 50%Ar + 50%C4H10 gas mixture at the normal pressure. It is established that the energy resolution has a wide minimum in the region of 10 radiation length. The coordinate resolution is changed in the range of 2.7 - 2.1 mm. 17 refs., 5 figs
