Description

A nuclear power plant basic principles simulator is a package of programs that numerically solve the dynamic equations of the simulated plant. This kind of tools is mainly used in the first step of training of operational personnel, to allow mental representation of physical phenomena governing the plant. They are also used for students or professional training, and experienced operators can also improve there performance under abnormal operation situations using the simulator. For the Embalse nuclear power plant, mainly the thermohydraulic behaviour, is simulated. The mathematical model was adapted from MANUVR, a code developed at the Electric Systems and Control Department of the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA). (Author)

Abstract (Spanish)

Un simulador de principios basicos de una central nuclear consiste de un conjunto de programas que resuelven numericamente y en tiempo real las ecuaciones que gobiernan el comportamiento dinamico de la planta simulada. Este tipo de herramientas es utilizado, principalmente en la primera fase del entrenamiento general del personal de operacion de la central para facilitar a los mismos una representacion mental de los fenomenos fisicos que gobiernan la planta, ademas de ser utilizados como una herramienta de aprendizaje de las tecnicas de control. Se usan igualmente para entrenamiento de estudiantes o profesionales, e incluso pueden ser utilizados por operadores ya experimentados para mejorar su rendimiento frente a situaciones anormales de operacion o de accidentes que eventualmente pudieren ocurrir. En el simulador de principios basicos de la central nuclear Embalse (CNE) que aqui se presenta se simula el comportamiento termohidraulico de la planta. El modelo empleado es una adaptacion del codigo MANUVR, desarrollado en el Departamento Sistemas Electricos y Control de la Gerencia de Ingenieria de la Direccion de Centrales Nucleares de la Comision Nacional de Energia Atomica (CNEA).
