Creators
Description
The Australian energy sector has changed significantly over the past 25 years. While many of the trends established in this period continue, market reforms and new opportunities, both domestic and international, are stimulating a fresh set of changes the results of which we will only see in coming years. In October ABARE will release its latest assessment of long term trends in Australian energy consumption and production, extending the outlook horizon to cover the period between 1998-99 and 2019-20. One of the key messages is that Australia energy consumption is forecast to grow strongly over the medium term, averaging 2.0 % a year to 2019-2020, equivalent to some 339GJ per person
