Hydrothermal epitaxy: an improved technique for mass production of garnet films
Creators
- 1. CEA, Grenoble, France
Description
Hydrothermal epitaxy was used in view of the mass production of magnetic garnet films. A lot of films with (Er,Gd)3(Fe,Ga)5O12 compositions were obtained by series of twenty in the same run, in a two liters autoclave by the ''exchange reaction'' method. According to the growth conditions, thicknesses and bubbles diameters are in the 1 to 3 μ range. The properties of twenty films grown in the same run are given and compared. The quality of these films for bubbles applications are then discussed. (U.S.)
