Safety of gamma camera flood sources; and reply

  • 1. Rotterdams Radio Therapeutisch Inst. (Netherlands)
  • 2. Christie Hospital and Holt Radium Inst., Manchester (UK)

Description

These two brief letters discuss the safe handling of flooded field sources used for measuring γ-camera uniformity in medical work. The introduction of lead shielding to the whole underside of the source could pose problems of toxicity in handling by medical personnel. Scatter contribution by a lead backing is also discussed.
