Description
A focal-plane detector for a recoil mass spectrometer has been conceived and developed. If consist of a 14 x 14 cm2 position-sensitive parallel-plate avalanche counter. The detector works in gas volume at low-pressure to reduce the dead layers. The intrinsic resolution of the position detector is 0.5 mm and timing resolution of 700 ps. The detector has been tested by use of 5.5 MeV α particles. (Author)
