Description

Chemical liquid radioactive waste (CLRW) is liquid radioactive waste (LRW) containing chemical constituent in relatively high concentration. This waste usually generated by the activity which use a large chemicals in laboratory or nuclear installation. Till 2012 was collected 2600 litre CLRW in Centre for Radioactive Waste Technology and had been treated first by precipitation process use caustic soda. Metal hydroxide precipitate than vacuum-filtrated so 700 litres precipitate sludge and 1900 filtrate were separated. CLR W filtrate still contain radioactivity 5,18 E-5 mCi/L from Cs-137 and Co-60 and other radio nuclide. To decreasing radioactivity until lower than waste criteria, so the the uptake: test by column operation of ion exchanger is carry out use Lewatit Monoplus S 108 cation resin. Flowrate was set according to give contact time 9,6 minutes in bed resin. To eliminate Cs-137 need 200 g resin per litre of waste. (author)
