Interaction of structural metals with diamond and cubic boron nitride during surface treatment

Description

Studied have been the physical and chemical factors, affecting the strengthening and setting process during the surface treatment of the titanium-, zirconium- and niobium-based alloys through the plastic deformation method. It has been established that the friction coefficient during the diamond ironing of the titanium alloy articles is affected by the adhesion, deformation and diffusion components. The influence of the adhesion, that depends on the chemical closeness of the instrument and article materials, is the biggest of all. With the titanium alloy articles taken as an example, shown is the possibility of their treatment with ironers, made of the boron cubic nitride, zirconium carbide and tungsten boride
