Description

A quasiatomic structure of the high-frequency oscillations of the electron density inside the plasma Debye sphere is proposed. The paper studies the internal oscillations of the plasma shielding, which screens the electric charge of a dust particle immersed in a plasma. It is shown that high-frequency oscillations can be established inside the Debye sphere. An equation similar to a time-independent Schroedinger equation is derived. The ground state and the first excited state of the oscillating Debye sphere are studied in detail. The relevance of the investigation to enhanced scattering cross sections in dusty plasmas is discussed
